How Many Days You Need a Dumpster for a Kitchen Remodel
The 7-day standard rental covers the demolition phase of many kitchen remodels. Most kitchen debris comes out during tear-out, not during install. Time delivery for demo day, call for pickup when the old cabinets, counters and flooring are gone, and pay $25 per extra day only if demolition runs long.

Is 7 days enough for a kitchen remodel dumpster?
Seven days is usually enough when the dumpster arrives for demolition and leaves when tear-out ends. Cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall and old appliances come out at the start. The install phase makes far less debris. If demolition runs past 7 days, each extra day costs $25.
| Remodel phase | Debris it makes | Dumpster needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Demolition and tear-out | Cabinets, counters, flooring, drywall, fixtures | The main load |
| Rough-in (plumbing, electrical) | Scraps and offcuts | Light, often fits in the same rental |
| Install (cabinets, counters, floors) | Boxes, packaging, trim scraps | Small; often fits household trash or a short extension |

Call now (281) 673-4344When should the dumpster arrive?
The dumpster should arrive on the morning demolition starts, or the evening before if your crew starts at dawn. Delivery runs 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Book by 3:00 PM for next-day delivery. Every day before demo is a day of your 7 you don't use.
You don't need to be home if the spot is clear. The driver texts or calls 20 to 30 minutes before arrival. Spot tips are in the driveway placement guide.
What does it cost to keep the dumpster longer?
Keeping the dumpster longer costs $25 per day after the 7-day standard rental. A 10-day rental adds $75. A 14-day rental adds $175. If the dumpster fills before the job ends, a swap is billed as a new standard rental, which resets your 7 days with an empty container.
Which is better: extend or swap?
Extend when the dumpster has room and the work is running a few days late. Swap when the dumpster is full and you still have a lot of demolition left. Ask for both options when you call.
What size dumpster fits a kitchen remodel?
Kitchen remodel size depends on the kitchen's size and how much comes out, so use the remodel page to match your project. Included tons rise with size: 2 tons for a 10-yard, 2.5 for a 15-yard, 3 for a 20-yard and 4 for a 30-yard. Tile and plaster add weight quickly.
Match your kitchen to a size on the remodeling dumpster rental page. For heavy loads, see how dumpster weight is billed.
How do I plan the pickup day?
Plan pickup for the day after the last demolition load goes in. Pickup frees your driveway and stops the extra-day clock. Before the truck comes, make sure debris sits level with the top rim and nothing blocks the dumpster. An overfilled or blocked dumpster triggers the $125 dry run fee.
- Finish tear-out and sweep loose debris into the dumpster.
- Check that nothing sits above the top rim.
- Move cars and open any gates.
- Call to schedule pickup.
Your final invoice, with a copy of the scale ticket, is emailed 3 to 5 business days after pickup. Loading tips are in the dumpster loading guide.
Which rules apply to old kitchens?
Two federal rules can apply to older kitchens. The EPA lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule covers paid renovators working in pre-1978 homes. The EPA asbestos rule, 40 CFR 61.145, can require inspection and notice before some renovation. Both can change your timeline, so check before demolition day.
Read the EPA RRP program page and 40 CFR 61.145. Confirm with your permit office, HOA or landfill. Old fridges count as Freon appliances at $50 each; see what you can put in a dumpster.
